宁波是古代“海上丝绸之路”、“陶瓷之路”的东方始发港，被习近平总书记称为记载古丝绸之路历史的“活化石”。宁波舟山港自一体化以来，已一跃成为全球最重要的集装箱远洋干线和国家主枢纽港之一，是国内重要的铁矿石中转基地和原油转运基地、液体化工储运基地，是华东地区重要的煤炭、粮食储运基地。240多条国际航线连接着100多个国家和地区的600多个港口，勾画着港通天下的航运贸易网。
Ningbo is a major departure port of the ancient Mariıtime Silk Road and porcelain trade. President Xi Jinping once remarked that Ningbo stood as a living monument to the past interactions of the ancient Silk Road.Ever since the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port started integrated operation, it has risen to be the most important trunk port in global ocean shipping and one of China’s major national hub ports. The port nowadays serves as a key iron ore transfer base, crude oil transfer base, and liquid chemical storage and transportation base in China. It is as well a critical coal and grain storage and transportation base in East China.The Ningbo-Zhoushan Port is considered a principal gateway to the global shipping and trade network as it is connected to more than 240 international shipping routes that serve more than 600 ports in 100+ countries and regions.
宁波是全国开放程度最高的城市之一，与220多个国家（地区）建立了投资贸易关系，与国外100多个城市缔结了友城关系，是全国第八个外贸超1000亿美元城市、第九个累计实际利用外资超500亿美元城市、第四个跨境电商进口年交易额突破100亿元的城市、第四个境外投资超100亿美元的副省级城市。近年来，宁波市不断深化与中东欧等“一带一路”沿线国家的开放合作。2019年经国务院批准，中国—中东欧国家博览会成为国家级国际性展会，于每年6月在宁波举办。同年，中国（浙江）自由贸易试验区宁波联动创新区总体方素正式公布，未来的宁演将成为更高水平、更高质量的对外开放高地。
With investment and trade ties with more than 220 countries (regions) and sister cities agreement with more than 100 foreign cities, Ningbo is among the most open cities in China. It is the eighth city in China to register more than 100 billion USI) of foreign trade. the ninth to achieve more than 50 billion USD of paid-in foreign investment, the first to accomplish more than 10 billion yuan of annual cross-border import volume,and the fourth sub-provincial city to have more than 10 billion USD of outbound investment.In the last few years, Ningbo has been focusing on deepening cooperation with Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) and other Belt and Road Initiative countries. In 2019,the State
Council approved the annual hosting of China-CEEC Expo in Ningbo as a national-level international event every June.The framework plan for building the China (Zhejiang) Free Trade Pilot Zone Joint Innovation Zone was published in the same year. Ningbo is working towards building itself into a highland of opening up to the outside world in higher levels and better quality.

宁波是智造强市，产业配套齐全，是全国七大石化基地、七大新材料基地、四大家电基地和三大服装基地之一；拥有中国模具之都、中国文具之都等9个全国唯一的工业行业之都称号。金市有高新区、临空经济示范区、梅山保税港区等10个国家级开发区，省级国家级开发区和海关特殊监管区的数量居全省第一。宁波民营经济活力强，创业创新动力足，现有市场主体101.9万户，拥有国家级制造业单项冠军企业39家，居全国城市首位。
Ningbo enjoys strong development of smart manufacturing. With its comprehensive cover-up of industries in the supply chain, it is one of the seven major petrochemical bases, seven major new materials bases, four major home appliances bases,and three major apparel bases in China. The city is also known exclusively as the capital of nine industries in China, including that of industrial mold and
stationery. In total, ten national-level development zones are set up in Ningbo, including the Ningbo National Hi-tech Zone.Ningbo National Airport Economy Demonstration Zone,and Meishan Bonded Area.Ningbo has more provincial-level development zones and special customs supervision zones than any other city in Zhejiang.Private economy prospers in Ningbo as the city boosts entrepreneurship and innovation.Currently.there are 1.019 million business entities, among which 39 are national champions in their respective industries,the highest number in Chinese cities.
同时，宁波持续加大产业创新投入，2019年财政科技支出增长58.6%,规上工业企业研发费用增长13.7%,新产品产值增速比工业总产值高6.7个百分点，对总产值增长的贯献率高达92.3%。
Ningbo continues to invest more in industrial innovation at the meantime, which is echoed by an increase of 58.6% in tech-related government expenditure in 2019. R&D expenses in industrial entities with an annual main business revenue at or higher than 20 million yuan increased by 13.7% in the same year,while the increase of outputs from newly- developed products outpaced that of total industry by 6.7 percentage points,accounting for 92.3% of increase of total output.

Ningbo is bordered by the East China Sea, surrounded by mountain ranges, and crisscrossed by three rivers,the Yao River, Fenghua River,and Yong River. It features both the beauty of a riverside city in southern Yangtze River region and a coastal city.Ningbo is home to Siming Mountains National Forestry Park, Dongqian Lake National Tourism Resort,and Hangzhou Bay National Wetland Park,among other attractions.In recent years, eco-protection has been further enhanced in Ningbo: 37% of the city is covered by green areas;enjoys the reputation of a National Garden City,a National Forest City,and a National Model City of Environmental Protection; 87.7% of days has good air quality; 100% of water at county and municipal freshwater preserves meets cleanliness standards.
